Robert Murray is not only our next door neighbor, he was also the father-in-law to our brother John, the grandfather to to Cheyenne (she is in the picture), Mimi's best friend since birth. We have all been in a state of shock here. He was diagnosed 14 months ago with melanoma. It had progressed to the brain and then to the lungs. Radiation and Chemo had all but eradicated it. Drs. were hopeful. Unfortunately he was one of the 15% whose cancer metastasize into the spine. Within 2 weeks he was gone. Frankie and Johnny were both pall bearers. Johnny took it really hard as he had been over helping Robert with his yard work and helping Marie with the car for the last year. Marie was a totally devoted wife and will have a hard time getting through this.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the Murray family. Robert will definitely be missed.

Thought we were about through with winter and yet here we go again. Tonight we are in for a hard freeze again. Guess I will have to pull out the cocoa pot and make some for the family. Hubby will be gone tonight so I will have to cuddle with my puppies. Frank is really enjoying his new job. Today they switched him out to a truck with a condo sleeper so he will start staying up there (GA) during the week.

Johnny and Sissie are doing fine. Sissie is having a little trouble with her right knee but we can't figure out what it could be. There is no swelling or bruising but she is having pain at night in it.

We will have Mikey all next week. Life is a ball when he is here. He is so funny and happy all the time. Such a joy to have around.

Today I watched a documentary on PBS's Independent Lens about Origami. I was totally amazed at what some of these artists can do and how much patience it takes. However it works right in with the math Mimi is studying. So this makes a good lesson. Following are some of the pieces made by the artists. They are all folded from one piece of paper each. It is truly amazing what the imagination can come up with. Enjoy.

Today has been a kind of gloomy day, looks like rain. Certainly cloudy enough. Still cold.

Frankie had an oyster roast last night for his birthday. He had a friend of his over and they all sat around the fire. Johnny smoked some mullet for us on the smoker and Sissie and I sat in the house and watched tv. Good times.

This morning Frankie and his friend Matt went hunting and Frankie got him a deer. He was so proud of himself. Can't wait to fry some backstrap up. Yummy!

Frank is doing ok with the new job, just having to get use to the new log book rules as its been a few years since he has had to keep one.

Today's extra is some unusual artwork I found.

Creations made from matchsticks.

Carved from butter

Amazing 3D creations from paper

Happy Birthday!

On this date, Jan. 15, 1983, you came into our lives. What a blessing you have been to us. You are the most gentle, kind, helpful, hard working young man God put on this earth. Your father and I have been so blessed to have you for our son. Words can never express how special a person you have grown into. Now that you are going to have a son of your own, we can only hope that your blessings will be as wonderful as ours have been. You father and I love you very much. Happy Birthday Son!

Bath Time

Today is cold. Yesterday was cold. Tomorrow is going to be cold. I don't mind the cold. Frank hates the cold. We thought we were living in Florida for a reason, obviously the weather is not it. It's just plain cold and if it is going to be this cold there should be snow on the ground. According to a report I saw on the news yesterday -- 49 of the 50 states currently have snow on the ground, Florida being the only one not having it.

Not much planned for the weekend. Frankie's 28th birthday is tomorrow and we will do a little cake and all for him.

Johnny and brother Peanut have gone hunting for the afternoon. Just hope they behave themselves.

Today's post is titled Bath Time because I would like to share with you some of the most amazing styles of bathtubs I have found.

An overflow bathtub in a natural surrounding. (obviously not built for the larger adult)

--------------------------------

Refined design, with great internal livability, distinguished for its contrasting materials and the futuristic purity of its lines. (HUH!)
-------------------------------

Modern bathtub designed by Norman Foster. (looks like a sink to me)

--------------------------------------

Au Naturale

----------------------------------------

A highly unusual material from which to construct a bath – glass gives a clean, minimalist look to the design. (no secrets here)

--------------------------------------------------------

Jaw-dropping Sorgente bathtubs straddle the line between extravagant cleanliness and modern art.

---------------------------------------------

This illuminated, self standing, polyethylene bathtub is sure to add drama to your bathroom (nothing like highlighting all of your flaws)

-----------------------------------------------

Inspired by the beauty of marine woods, dedicated yacht makers create glamorous wooden bathtubs that shine like jewels

--------------------------------------------

Mussel Shell Bathtub
(
this is my favorite of the bunch)

Well I hope you have enjoyed this little tour of the different tubs now available. Obviously most of these are designed as art.

Until tomorrow....

Dr. Appt Today

Almost one month since I have blogged. Been a long holiday for us around here. Every one of us have been sick of one kind or another. It has been horrible, and it tends to make the rounds. Mom even spent Christmas in the hospital. So now that we are all feeling a lot better we can get back to living life.

Johnny had a dr appt with his heart dr today. Everything went great. The dr said that he has definitely got to quit drinking. The dr. did an echogram and the dr. stood over it and read it while it was being done and is amazed at how good his heart looks. He said that unless he quits drinking and loses some weight (he has gained so much weight, he now weighs 227, his heaviest ever) he will start having trouble again. This time the dr. told him that it will be twice as bad as before. So he needs to seriously think about some kind of rehab.

Frank started his new job today While he enjoyed working for Mid-Fla, this new job with WBT Trucking is the job he has been trying to get for a while. He spent the first part of this week in Hazelhurst GA for orientation. He hauls his first load tomorrow morning to Orlando. So happy for him.

Just wanted to give you a short update and I will try to get to blogging again on a regular basis.
